On March 24, Commerce Minister Wang Wentao met with Geoff Martha, chairman and CEO of Medtronic, and discussed with him international cooperation in medical technology and Medtronic’s development in China.

Wang Wentao stressed that China has a highly open and promising medical industry, and has become the second largest medical devices market in the world. He expressed hope for Medtronic to strengthen research and development in China, bring in more cutting-edge therapies, innovative products and services, and contribute to the development of a Healthy China.

Geoff Martha said that Medtronic was one of the first multinationals to enter China, and has continued to increase investments in China in recent years to bring more high-tech products and high-end medical equipment to China. He also shared plans to build a new innovation center in China to provide more premium products for Chinese consumers.
