The 8th China-Algeria Joint Economic and Trade Commission was held in Beijing


On January 30, Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao and Algerian Minister of Housing, Urban Planning and Urban Affairs Bel Alibi co-chaired the 8th China-Algeria Joint Economic and Trade Committee in Beijing, and had an in-depth exchange of views on ways to deepen bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

Wang Wentao said that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the bilateral trade reached a record high in 2023, China's investment in Algeria grew rapidly, and the two countries also engaged in fruitful cooperation in infrastructure, high technology and personnel exchanges. China is ready to work with Algeria to reinforce alignment between the Belt and Road Initiative and the New Algeria plan, give full play to the role of the bilateral Joint Economic and Trade Committee, optimize trade structure, advance cooperation on major projects, expand cooperation in new energy, the digital economy, manufacturing and agriculture sectors, and work for new progress in bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

Bel Alibi said Algeria is willing to work with China to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and continue to deepen and enrich bilateral cooperation in various fields. He expressed hope that China will increase imports from Algeria and encouraged Chinese enterprises to increase investment in Algeria. Algeria has enacted a new Investment Law, which will create a favorable environment for Chinese investors and other enterprises.
