China and Australia Sign MoU Regarding Implementation and Review of China-Australia Free Trade Agreement

On 15 July, witnessed by Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao and Secretary of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Jan Adams signed a Memorandum of Understanding Regarding the implementation and review of the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement (ChAFTA).

Since its entry into force in 2015, ChAFTA has significantly advanced bilateral economic and trade relations, delivering tangible benefits to both countries. As 2025 marks the 10th anniversary of ChAFTA’s implementation, the two sides will seize this opportunity to maintain close cooperation, continue high-quality implementation of ChAFTA, and jointly conduct reviews to identify areas for further improvement or expansion, with a view to enhancing trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, and providing high-level institutional support for bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
